Rodney B. Young, MD, FAAFP
Dr. Rodney Young is a Professor and Chairman of the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in Amarillo. He is a magna cum laude graduate of Abilene Christian University and a top 20 graduate of the Texas Tech School of Medicine. He completed his family medicine residency at the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in Lubbock and served as Chief Resident.
Dr. Young maintains an active clinical practice at Texas Tech in addition to his teaching and administrative responsibilities and is a leader in local and regional medical organizations. He is a past President of the Potter-Randall County Medical Society where he continues to serve as a board member and delegate to the Texas Medical Association. He has worked extensively on physician distribution, healthcare workforce issues, socioeconomic, and medical education matters for the Texas Medical Association and the Texas Academy of Family Physicians, and has also served on the TAFP board of directors. He is a member of the Amarillo Hospital District Board of Managers, Heal the City Free Clinic Board of Directors, and a member and past chair of the Harrington Cancer and Health Foundation Board of Directors.
