Dr. Srivastava is currently a University Distinguished Professor and Chairman of the Department of Immunotherapeutics and Biotechnology at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC), Abilene, Texas, specializing in Cancer Biology, Chemoprevention and Cancer Therapeutics. Dr. Srivastava also holds James A ‘Buddy’ Davidson Endowed Professorship in Pharmacology and Oncology. In addition, he served as an Associate Dean for Research for 6 years, and Associate Dean for Graduate Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Biotechnology for 4 years at TTUHSC. He was instrumental in bringing the Ph.D. program to Abilene campus. Prior to his arrival at TTUHSC in 2007, Dr. Srivastava served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and was a full member of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute at Hillman Cancer Center. He did his post-doctoral studies from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, Texas. Dr. Srivastava’s current research is focused on understanding the mechanism of resistance to chemotherapeutic drugs, immunotherapy and repurposing non-cancer drugs for therapy of melanoma, brain cancer, breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, osteosarcoma, and ovarian cancer, and is funded by grants from the National Cancer Institute, NIH. He has authored more than 170 research articles, several book chapters, Editor of three books, and has an H-Index 61. He also holds several patents and received numerous awards. He was named in Stanford University’s list for the World’s Top 2% Scientists for the year 2020 & 2021. He recently received the honor to be elected as the Fellow of American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), a very prestigious scientific organization. Dr. Srivastava is in the editorial board of several prestigious journals and is the member of societies including AACR, SOT, AAAS and AAPS. He serves in the grant review panels of National Institute of Health (NIH), Department of Defense and other agencies. His research work has been featured by various news agencies.
