TTUHSC Volunteer Services provides service opportunities to explore career options that exist within clinical and research settings. Participants can gain practical experience in a variety of healthcare related fields. Many have continued forward to pursue careers as medical practitioners and researchers as a result of their volunteer experiences. Our mission is to provide opportunities for you to help you find your passion, reach your goals, and make a difference in our community and beyond.

Aspiring Health Care and Research Professionals
Looking to gain some experience in healthcare as you consider your future? Getting ready to apply for medical school, PA school, nursing school, or pharmacy school? Becoming a TTUHSC volunteer might be the experience you are looking for. The objective of our Observation Program is for you to experience the workplace setting and the duties performed by medical and pharmacy professionals. After shadowing in our clinics or labs, you should gain an appreciation for some of the qualities required for a career in medicine or pharmacy.

How to Apply
If you’re interested in volunteering or observing at TTUHSC, please complete and submit an application packet below.
- Applicants must be at least 14 years old to apply.
- Applicants between 14–17 years old must have consent of a parent or guardian to participate in volunteering or shadowing at TTUHSC.
- Applicants must submit a current immunization record* with application packet.
- Applicants must submit record of current TB test* (obtained within last 12 months)
* Please note, applicants will be wholly responsible for completing immunization requirements & TB testing and will not be approved to volunteer or shadow without submitting records for review.

What Comes Next
Once the application has been received and processed, the Volunteer Services Manager will proceed reach out with the next steps for onboarding to begin volunteering or observing.
- Criminal background check.
- Online HIPAA Compliance training.
- Online Safety training.
After the background check clears and all training modules are completed, applicants can be approved for volunteering or shadowing.
