Apply to Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences

Access the TTUHSC BioRaider application portal and follow our step-by-step guide to complete your graduate biomedical sciences application.

Create an Account

The Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences uses the BioRaider application system to accept all graduate applications. Applications for the upcoming academic year open every year on September 1.

To begin your application, please create an account at BioRaider.com. Please note that it may take several minutes to receive your initial account confirmation email.

Email Address Caution: Please use an email address that you will always have access to (e.g., a personal Gmail or Outlook address). Many educational institutions disable student email accounts after graduation. All correspondence regarding your application, supplemental requirements, and admission offers will be sent to the email address provided. You can update your email address at any time by logging into BioRaider.com, selecting My Account at the top of the page, and clicking Update Profile.

Step-by-Step Application Guide

Log into BioRaider.com, click on Applications in the top right section of the page, and select the program you wish to apply to.

1. Personal, Demographics & Family

This information is automatically filled from your main account profile. You may update these details on the application itself, but changes made inside an application will not update your main account profile. Please ensure your BioRaider account profile is also kept up to date.

2. Plans

Select your application type, student type, concentration (if applicable), and anticipated course load. Ph.D. applicants must also detail their research experience in this section.

Note: Applicants interested in the Biomedical Sciences M.S. program should apply through the Biotechnology M.S. track.

3. Activities

All applicants (with the exception of Ph.D. applicants) must describe previous laboratory, research, teaching, and related experience. Text inside the BioRaider system is limited to 2,000 characters including spaces.

Graduate Medical Education Sciences M.S., Biotechnology M.S., MPH, and Public Health Certificate applicants should enter paid employment and internships completed within the past 3 years. Ph.D. and Pharmaceutical Sciences M.S. applicants do not have this section on the application and must instead upload a Resume/CV as a required supplemental item.

4. Academics

Please list every college or university attended or currently attending, including institutions where transfer credits were applied toward an undergraduate degree.

  • Search Tips: Do not enter a city name when searching for your school. Select Country and State, then click search. Select your school from the drop-down results.
  • Unlisted Schools: If your school does not appear, select "The organization is not listed" and check the box next to Unlisted School to enter your institution manually.
  • International Institutions: Most international schools will not appear in the standard search. Try searching by country alone first; if it does not appear, enter it manually as an Unlisted School.
  • Honors & Achievements: List academic distinctions or honors received during undergraduate study and beyond (e.g., McNair Scholar, Cum Laude Society). Select Add Honor for each entry, specifying the grade level and recognition type.

5. Writing & Signature

Avoid using special symbols, Greek letters, superscripts, or subscripts in text boxes. Copying text directly from Microsoft Word can introduce hidden formatting code; we recommend pasting text from a plain text editor.

  • Personal Statement / Essay: Describe your motivation for seeking the degree, relevant background, and long-term career goals. Citations must be provided for any sources used. Limited to 3,000 characters including spaces.
  • Optional Background Information: Use this space to share relevant context or information not covered in other sections of the application. Limited to 2,000 characters including spaces.
