History & Mission

Purpose:

Based on the objectives and strategies of the TTUHSC 2020 Strategic Plan, we formed five Values Integration Teams to ensure we accomplished our Strategic People Goals for 2020. After successfully meeting these goals, we turned our focus to innovating and collaborating with teams and stakeholders across the organization to integrate the TTUHSC Values into processes that would help improve health care and sustain the Values-Based Culture through the years to come.

Our work:

By leading interprofessional innovations, the five teams are working to more deeply embed our Values-Based Culture into our organization and help achieve the mission of the new TTUHSC Vision

Composition:

The Teams have two to three co-leaders, each bringing experience from different areas, schools and departments. Team members provide a diverse representation of all of the campuses and locations served by TTUHSC.

Membership:

Membership on any Values Integration Team has a term limit, and we are always glad to hear from TTUHSC team members who are interested in joining a team to help continue this work.

If you are interested in becoming a member of one the teams, please contact Jason Weber to request to be added to the nomination list.

As a membership place becomes available, you will be contacted by Helen or one of the team leaders to discuss your current availability and interest, and approval will be sought from your supervisor. Time commitment is one monthly meeting as well as individual or sub-team research and tasks. You will not be required to travel for face to face meetings. Meetings are conducted using Zoom or a similar online platform.

Message from Chief People Officer Steve Sosland:

We began our journey to create a sustainable values-based culture on May 2-3, 2018, when we invited 104 diverse TTUHSC team members to a Values Summit. The purpose of the summit was to develop a draft of the core values we commonly share, with four or five behaviors as guidelines to exhibiting them.

Next, we held over 90 listening tours on all our campuses and most of our managed care locations to gather input from more than 2600 TTUHSC team members to help edit the document. Since that time, we have committed to living a life of shared values and influencing others around us to do the same. We demonstrate our alignment by holding ourselves and others accountable to living these values each day. This is how we, as One Team, are helping to sustain our Values-Based Culture.

We are excited to be working on developing many ways to sustain this culture through innovation and interprofessional collaboration involving faculty, staff, students, and community members. Our five Values Integration Teams are meeting monthly to develop initiatives around team member coaching and professional development, online and in-person recognition of team members and teams, values-based recruiting and hiring, team member satisfaction and engagement, and an ever-increasing number of initiatives that will further integrate our values into our daily decisions and processes. Each of the following teams is focused on leading the journey towards sustainability.

    •   People Growth and Development Team
    •   Employer of Choice Team
    •   Recruitment and Retention Team
    •   Recognition and Awards Team
    •   Brand and Communications Team

Please contact Helen Davenport, our People & Values Advocate, if you are interested in joining one of our Values Integration Teams.

Let’s work hard to recognize those who are living our values. Together, we will sustain our values-based culture and make a positive impact on our students, patients, TTUHSC community and each other.

Warm regards,

Steve Sosland
