Program Overview
Our mission is to provide comprehensive training to residents in the field of Pediatrics, preparing them for successful careers as physicians. We offer robust outpatient and hospital services that expose our residents to diverse patient populations and medical cases. By emphasizing the importance of patient-centered care, evidence-based medicine, and interdisciplinary collaboration, we aim to foster the development of compassionate and competent healthcare providers. Our commitment to excellence, innovation, and community service ensures that our residents receive a comprehensive education that will empower them to make a positive impact on the health and well-being of the communities they serve.
Through our robust inpatient program, residents gain valuable hands-on experience in several areas of the hospital, developing the skills and expertise needed to succeed in the field of medicine.
By participating in a variety of medical and non-medical events throughout Amarillo, our residents are able to make meaningful contributions to the health and well-being of the community.

How to Apply
All applications must be received through ERAS. We review USLME scores, transcripts/grades, personal statements, 3-4 letters of recommendation, research, evidence of volunteerism and leadership. Generally, the ERAS application is complete before interview invitations are dispersed. The ERAS application must include transcripts from approved medical schools, Dean’s letter, 3-4 letters of recommendation, personal statement. ECFMG Certification is required for all candidates to be ranked.

Admissions Requirements
- Must be a graduate of an American Allopathic/Osteopathic Medical School or an approved International Medical School.
- Must meet Texas Medical Board Requirements - see licensing requirements of the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners.
- Must be eligible for licensure in the state of Texas following completion of residency.
- Applicants must be a US Citizen, a permanent resident or sponsored for a J-1 Visa; we do not support other visas.
- USMLE Step 2 (CK and CS) must be completed prior to the match. We recommend taking USMLE Step 3 before you start residency. However, it is required to be taken before the end of PGY1 and passed before March of PGY2.
Additional Details:
- We accept international medical graduates (IMG’s).
- We only sponsor J-1 Visa's.
- We do not require US clinical experience.
- We do not offer observerships.
- We do not offer a transitional year (PGY-1).
- No clinical experience required.
- We offer seven positions each match year.
Research is not required, but strongly encouraged. Scholarly activity in the form of publishing a case report in a journal or presenting in a national conference or research publication is a requirement for graduation.
