Amarillo pharmacy team claims competition title
The Texas Tech Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists (TTSSHP) held its annual Clinical Skills Competition Oct. 21-22. The first day of competition began with thirty-seven two-member teams representing each School of Pharmacy class and all four of the school’s campuses participated in the event. The top nine teams from the first day were invited back for the second day to make oral presentations of their respective case studies.
Amarillo fourth-year (P4) students Brandi Dahl and Christina Tran were selected as the top overall team and will advance to the National Clinical Skills Competition Dec. 2-3 in Las Vegas at the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists' Midyear Clinical Meeting.
The top teams for each class included P1s Sarah Glade and Myla Bhakta from the Amarillo campus; P2s Millad Sobhanian and Nika Hakim from Amarillo; and P3s Tori Swenson and Ballard Saul from Lubbock. Other teams that earned their way into the second-day finals included P4s Yasameen Nazemi and Louise DeSouza from the Dallas/Fort Worth campus; Laurent Keoula and Ashita Jayachandran (P4s – Lubbock); Lauren Staton and Jennifer Hardcopf (P4s – Dallas/Fort Worth); Grant Peterson and Lan Nguyen (P4s – Dallas/Fort Worth); Hasanthia Vallabhaneni and Melissa Matthew (P3s – Dallas/Fort Worth); and Sehrish Panjwani and Catherine Moss (P3s – Abilene).
