Community Health Worker Certification Registration

WHAT: The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) Anita Thigpen Perry School of Nursing will host a Community Health Worker Certification registration and orientation. This training opportunity is available to individuals interested in making a difference in their community.

WHEN: 5:30 to 7 p.m. Aug. 16

WHERE: TTUHSC Larry Combest Community Health & Wellness Center,301 40th St.

EVENT: Classes begin Aug. 23 and are from 5:30 to 9 p.m. every Tuesday. Community health workers act as liaisons between health agencies and the community, serve as case managers, distribute information and provide education to their clients.

Registration is $80, and fees are due at orientation. The course is 10 months with two weeks off for Christmas and New Year’s Day and one week off for Thanksgiving and Spring Break.

Tuition for the course, which is certified by the Texas Department of State Health Services, is $800. All materials are included. Scholarship opportunities also are available to eligible individuals. Students are eligible to apply for community health worker certification after completion of the 160-hour course and its requirements.
