Community Lecture Covers HPV Infection

The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) Laura W. Bush Institute for Women’s Health (LWBIWH) at the Permian Basin announces a free community lecture, “The Natural History of HPV Infection from Adolescence to Senescence,” featuring Concepcion Diaz-Arrastia, M.D. The lecture will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Oct. 20 at the TTUHSC Auditorium, 800 W. 4th St. in Odessa.

Diaz-Arrastia, associate professor and director of gynecologic oncology at Baylor College of Medicine, is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and gynecologic oncology. She earned her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry at Rutgers Medical School in Piscataway, N.J. Diaz-Arrastia’s training includes an obstetrics and gynecology residency, and gynecologic oncology fellowship at the State University of New York Health Science Center.

Diaz-Arrastia also studies fertility preservation for young women with gynecologic tumors and translational research in precancerous changes in cervical cells. Before joining Baylor College of Medicine, she completed tenures at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and the State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn.
