First-Time Mothers Graduate from Nurse-Family Partnership
The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) Larry Combest Community Health and Wellness Center hosted a graduation for 60 Nurse-Family Partnership first-time mothers.
The School of Nursing Larry Combest Community Health and Wellness Center has a second location with the Combest Central Community Health Center, which collaborates with the Nurse Family Partnership.
The Nurse Family Partnership is an incentive and health program that assists expectant mothers and keeps the family on the program until the child is two years old. The program goals are to improve pregnancy outcomes, child health and development and the economic self-sufficiency of the family.
The program is free to income-eligible participants. Each participant is connected to a registered nurse who provides support and information needed in order to have a healthy pregnancy and baby. The Nurse-Family Partnership serves nine counties including Lubbock, Lamb, Lynn, Hale, Hockley, Crosby, Garza, Terry and Floyd. With a team of nine registered nurses, the program has the capacity to serve 200 clients.
Since it’s inception in 2008, Lubbock Nurse-Family Partnership has graduated 390 clients from the program. In 2017, approximately 3,200 home visits were completed.
