Grad Students to Attend Annual Toxicology Meeting
Four students from the School of Pharmacy’s Graduate Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences (GPPS) have received a Graduate Student Travel Support Award to attend the 58th Annual Meeting of the Society of Toxicology March 10-14 in Baltimore.

Farzane Sivandzade, a research assistant for Luca Cucullo, Ph.D., in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in Amarillo, has been invited to give a platform presentation during the meeting’s SPC Highlights Emerging Scientists: Biopharmaceutical Safety Assessment session. Her presentation is titled, “The Protective Effect of Rosiglitazone against Electronic Cigarette/Tobacco Smoke Induced Cerebrovascular Toxicity.”

The other TTUHSC honorees also work as research assistants for the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in Amarillo. The group includes Ekram Chowdhury, who works in the laboratory of Ulrich Bickel, Dr. Med.; Md. Sanaullah Sajib, who works in the laboratory of Constantinos Mikelis, Ph.D.; and Md. Ashraf-Uz-Zaman, who works in the laboratory of Nadezhda German, Ph.D.
