Hundreds gather to remember El Paso doctor - El Paso Times

More than 800 family members and friends gathered Wednesday to remember and celebrate the life of Dr. Christopher J. Powers, as a man of faith, model father and husband and passionate doctor.

At age 40, he left the Kemp Smith firm to pursue a dream of becoming a doctor. His studies took him and his family to Texas Tech in Lubbock, where he graduated in 1998. After completing his residency at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in El Paso in 2002, he joined the faculty of the Texas Tech School of Medicine, where he worked for six years. In 2009, he opened his own practice in El Paso.
