Internal Medicine students compete and present at meeting

The Department of Internal Medicine’s Medical Jeopardy Team competed in the Doctors Dilemma competition Nov. 4-6 at the American College of Physicians’ Texas chapter meeting in Houston. Team members included PGY-3s Teji Dhami and Srinath Yadlapali and PGY-1 Muhammad Habib.

Four other department students also had their posters accepted for presentation at the meeting. Those students (and their poster titles) included: Debdeep Banerjee (Marginal zone Lymphoma initially presenting as NASH-induced cirrhosis); Cynthia Gonzales (Verrucous Carcinoma of the Esophagus: A Rare and Easy-to-miss Diagnosis); Shalini Koshy (Check My Eye to Make the Diagnosis: A Case of Steele Richardson Olszewski syndrome); and Zia Sidduqui (SLE and Anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis in an 18-year-old presenting with a skin rash).

In addition, Jonathan Esclovon gave an oral presentation, titled, Grover’s Disease: A Skin Deep Issue.

Faculty members Roger Smalligan, M.D., Thien Vo, M.D., and Tarek Naguib, M.D., attended the meeting to encourage and support the Jeopardy team and student presenters.
