Interview with Brad Bauler, TTUHSC Managed Care
Brad Bauler, RN
As part of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center's mission to promote healthier communities across West Texas and beyond, the Managed Care program provides health care services for facilities in numerous cities throughout the state – oftentimes to patients with great need who have never had access to these services before. Through a partnership with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, the Managed Care team is able to provide medical, mental health and dental services to thousands of incarcerated patients across West Texas.
While working in a state correctional facility may sound intimidating, it is often safer than many other settings. To help clear up some common misconceptions that surround correctional health care jobs, we spoke with Brad Bauler, RN. As an experienced correctional nurse at the Montford Unit, Brad provides insight into what a typical day looks like as a surgical nurse at a managed care facility.
