Local charitable groups offer their holiday wish lists - Abilene Reporter-News

There's no time of year that tugs on people's giving string more than Thanksgiving and Christmas. Even with Abilenians' generosity, however, many who have fallen on hard times will have to do without this holiday season.

The Texas Tech Health Sciences Center students work with social services to help the rural community. Pearl Merritt, the regional dean of nursing there, said that they see a large number of elderly patients in need.
