Ninth Annual Stork's Nest Baby Shower
WHAT: The Ninth Annual Stork’s Nest Baby Shower, hosted by students at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center’s (TTUHSC) Anita Thigpen Perry School of Nursing.
WHEN: 12:30 to 3 p.m. April 15 (Friday)
WHERE: International Cultural Center, 601 Indiana Ave.
EVENT: The Lubbock Chapter of the Stork’s Nest serves a vital community role in increasing the number of Lubbock women and teens who receive early and regular prenatal care to give babies a healthy start.
Last year’s event organizer Linda Brice, R.N., Ph.D., associate professor in the TTUHSC Perry School of Nursing, and her students, with the help of the Lubbock community, raised more than $74,500 in new baby items and monetary donations.
The Stork’s Nest is a national cooperative project of the March of Dimes and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. The project is now also a part of the Larry Combest Community Health and Wellness Center, a nonprofit nurse managed primary health care center operated by the TTUHSC Perry School of Nursing. In addition, First Texas Bank, 6811 Indiana Ave., has signed on as a major co-sponsor of the shower for a second year.
