"With tanning beds or external sources of UV light sources, like something to dry the fingernails, it is very intense radiant energy in a short time frame. We know that is what increases the risks of any type of cancer, but especially skin cancers in melanoma," says Dr. Mark Arredondo, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.
