Power of the Purse
More than 725 guests enjoyed a powerful message from keynote speaker Joan Lunden Apr. 6 at the annual Power of the Purse luncheon hosted by the Laura W. Bush Institute for Women’s Health.
Lunden, a journalist, author and television host is best known for her work as co-host for Good Morning America from 1980-1997. In her Power of the Purse presentation, she discussed her personal experience of surviving triple negative breast cancer to become an advocate for women’s health and wellness. In her message she seeks to deliver hope, inspire perseverance and motivate people to make the most of their lives.
Power of the Purse is a key event for the Laura W. Bush Institute for Women’s Health that seeks to raise money for women’s health initiatives through the auction of approximately 120 purses. Proceeds from the event primarily support the Laura W. Bush Institute for Women’s Health, with a portion of the money raised benefitting TTUHSC’s Breast Center of Excellence.
