Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Researchers Listed Among World’s Top 2%
Ten current Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTHUSC) researchers were named in Stanford University’s most recent World’s Top 2% of Scientists single-year performance list. The ranking highlights influential researchers across a broad range of scientific fields. The list is compiled in collaboration with Elsevier’s Scopus, a commercial database for peer-reviewed literature.
Current TTUHSC researchers included in the Version 9 single-year dataset are:
- Yangzom Doma Bhutia, Ph.D., associate professor, School of Medicine

The Top 2% of Scientists list is one way to acknowledge the impact of a researcher’s work. It combines six citation indicators to create a c-score. The c-score considers cumulative impact based on the total number of citations and the H-index, along with scaled impact based on authorship position. Scientists also are classified into 20 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields to ensure impact is measured against peers in the same field rather than across all areas of science.
Rankings are available for both single-year performance and career-long impact. The single-year performance list counts citations during a single calendar year. The Version 9 single-year list counts citations only from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2025. This dataset helps level the playing field, allowing younger researchers to rank alongside established veterans.
The career-long list uses a scientist’s cumulative footprint from their first paper to the most recent cutoff date. This list features senior and retired scientists whose lifetime citations remain highly influential.
