With the arrival of winter, many begin to plan adventures in the snow-covered mountains. Winter sports offer high-speed excitement, but also the risk of injury. High-profile skiing injuries and deaths have given the sport a dangerous reputation. While the injury rate for snow sports is relatively high, development of better equipment over the years has reduced the rate of injury by 75 percent. These improvements have been the most important factor in improving the safety of winter sports. But, there are some things that you can do to reduce your own risk of injury during sports.
