Tech Regents consider smallest budget increase in 20 years - LubbockOnline.com


The Texas Tech system would see its smallest budget increase in 20 years if the university’s Board of Regents today approves a nearly $1.5-billion systemwide budget cushioned by degree program cuts, a tuition increase and the loss of 600 employees.

Regents met Thursday on the Tech campus to preview the proposed fiscal year 2012 budget, featuring an increase of $13 million, or just under 1 percent, over last year’s budget for the system that includes Tech, the Health Sciences Center and Angelo State University. The new fiscal year begins Sept. 1.
