TMA Recognizes TTUHSC Preceptor

Alan Keister, M.D., a clinical associate professor for TTUHSC’s Department of Internal Medicine and co-founder of Amarillo’s Heal the City clinic, was presented the 2018 John P. McGovern Champion of Health Award by the Texas Medical Association (TMA) Foundation. Keister was recognized for his efforts in establishing and managing Heal the City. Keister received the award Jan. 27 during TMA’s Winter Conference in Austin.
As part of the award, Heal the City will receive a $5,000 grant and a specially commissioned bronze statue highlighting Heal the City’s efforts to serve the public.
In December, the Texas chapter of the American College of Physicians also recognized Keister’s work with Heal the City by awarding him the 2017 Volunteering and Community Service Award.
