Peripheral artery disease (PAD) is a condition caused by the buildup of plaque that narrows and restricts blood flow to the body’s peripheral arteries, causing pain, impairing mobility and, in advanced cases, leading to amputation.

To help advance the treatment of this potentially life-threatening condition that affects more than 200 million people across the globe, the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Medicine on Oct. 27 officially cut the ribbon on its new Center of Excellence in Peripheral Arterial Disease Treatment.
