Texas Tech's medical school in Lubbock has a similarly-minded program, but it instead cuts off the fourth year of medical school for those who declare that they intend to become primary care physicians, an underserved field, especially in Texas. In addition to the saved year, students in Tech's program receive another year's tuition in scholarships, which cuts medical school debt in half.
