A Visionary Hero - Lori Rice Spearman
Lori Rice Spearman, Ph.D., started working for TTUHSC October 1987. She was appointed dean in January 2016 and leads the largest School of Health Professions in Texas and one of the largest in the nation in relation to the breadth of programs and the number of enrolled students and graduates.
“Because we provide such a large number of clinicians for our region and state, we think it is vital that we (our School of Health Professions) are developing critical thinkers who will become the innovators in their professional fields. We want to model that approach in our staff and faculty who interact daily with our students. We want to be viewed as problem solvers and collaborators within our institution and system.
Rice Spearman said one of the strategic goals of the School of Health Professions is to form partnerships and relationships on our campuses and within our university and system that allow us to fulfill our mission of expanding access and improving the quality of health care in Texas.
“Participating in the values tours has allowed me to gain additional perspective of all the TTUHSC operations and the positive impact the values journey will have in our university. I love my job because of the people I work with every day! I KNOW we are making a positive impact in the communities we serve in Texas and across the nation. Every day is a GREAT day to be a Red Raider.”
