I am a pediatric hospital medicine attending practicing primarily at Northwest Texas Healthcare System (NWTHS) and occasionally BSA. I am the current medical director of the Children's Hospital and Acute Pediatric Services at NWTH.
I was born and raised in New Orleans and completed my undergraduate studies in biomedical engineering with a specific focus on medical imaging, as well as minors in mathematics and biology at Boston University.
After working as a researcher in pediatric cardiology at Texas Children's Hospital, I completed medical school and pediatric residency training at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC), then joined on as an attending physician in Amarillo, TX.
I obtained board certification in General Pediatrics in 2017 and Pediatric Hospital Medicine in 2022 through the five-year practice pathway. I served as the Chief of Pediatrics at NWTH from 2020 - 2021, and was the NWTH Physician of the Year in 2019.
I am happily married to my wife, Dr. Amanda Nicole Hartman, who completed medical school and family medicine residency training at TTUHSC, and currently works as a wound care physician in the Texas Panhandle. We have two beautiful children: Genevieve Marie Mattamal and Robert Konrad Mattamal.
My hobbies include cooking, grilling, building model kits, and gaming. My favorite foods are ribeye steaks, fried chicken, and pho. My favorite band is Creedence Clearwater Revival.
