Advancing Research in Memory Disorders and Alzheimer’s Disease

At our memory clinic, research is at the heart of our mission to improve the lives of individuals experiencing memory changes and cognitive concerns. Our team is actively involved in advancing the understanding, early detection, and treatment of conditions such as Alzheimer's disease,  and other forms of Dementia. Through comprehensive cognitive assessments, advanced brain imaging, and the study of emerging biomarkers, we work to identify changes as early as possible and tailor care to each individual.

Our clinic also participates in clinical trials evaluating lifestyle-based interventions designed to slow cognitive decline and enhance quality of life. In addition, we are committed to researching practical strategies that support caregivers and families, recognizing that memory-related conditions affect the entire support network. By integrating cutting-edge research with compassionate clinical care, we strive to provide our patients with access to the latest advancements while contributing to the future of memory health.

Partnering With Medical Student Research Resources (MSSPR)

The Garrison Institute on Aging Memory Clinic is proud to partner with the Medical Student Scholarly Project Resources (MSSPR) to support medical students in developing strong, independent research skills. While TTUHSC offers several structured research programs (MSSRP, Y2MSRP, DMR), MSSPR also provides a comprehensive set of tools to help students pursue their own research interests. These resources guide students through every stage of the research cycle, from forming a research question and securing mentors to conducting literature reviews, preparing IRB submissions, designing studies, managing data, and sharing results through publications or conference presentations. Although no resource can anticipate every challenge, this collection equips students with the foundational support they need to successfully complete meaningful, independent research projects.
